This pink ombré look proves that bright eye shadow is more popular than ever

Even though nude shades and natural makeup will always be in fashion, bright colors come and go. Right now, anything goes, so make the most of the bold, pigmented shadows in your collection. Creating an ombré look requires a sequence of complementary shades, and red, pink and purple are especially hot this season.

For this look, you’ll need both matte and shimmer products. Rose, dark pink, deep red and pink shimmer are enhanced with metallic purple eye shadow and a pair of flirty lashes. Take your time when applying the darkest shade, and layer the color to build up its intensity. Avoid sweeping your brush back and forth too much when applying shimmer, or else it’ll settle below your eyes.

Instructions
1. Prepare the eye area for pigment by pressing liquid foundation into your skin with a flat-topped buffing brush.

2. Sweep matte rose eye shadow along the crease of your eye with the blending brush.

3. Darken the crease and outer corner of your lid by applying dark pink eye shadow just below the matte rose color. Hold the skin near the outer corner taut for better control.

4. Pat deep red eye shadow onto the outer corner of your lid with a small eye shadow brush, and sweep the remaining pigment along the crease. Tip: Before applying bright colors, tap the brush against the mirror or countertop to knock off loose pigment.

5. Pat metallic purple eye shadow onto your lid with the shading brush.

6. Pat pink shimmer eye shadow on the inner corner of your lid near the tear duct with a very small eye shadow brush.

7. Sweep dark pink eye shadow below your lower lashes with the shading brush.

8. Apply black mascara to your upper lashes.

9. Hold the false lashes with the tweezers, and apply a small amount of lash glue onto the lash band. Let the glue set for 10 seconds, and apply the lashes just above your upper lashes.

10. Gently massage makeup primer into your skin with your fingers.

11. Apply foundation to your skin in downward strokes with a foundation brush.

12. Apply light-colored concealer below your eyes, along the bridge of your nose and on the center of your forehead and chin. Press the product into your skin with a flat-topped buffing brush.

13. Use a powder brush to apply setting powder to your T-zone and the rest of your face.

14. Restore dimension to your cheekbones, jawline, nose and temples by brushing pressed powder foundation onto your skin with a tapered brush.

15. Pat and press peachy pink blush onto the apples of your cheeks with a cheek brush.

16. Groom your brows and fill in missing hairs by brushing brow cream through them with the angled brush. Use a spoolie afterward to diffuse the product, and separate individual hairs for a natural look.

17. Finish your makeup by applying warm pink lipstick with a lip brush.
