Treat yourself at home with this DIY orange and marigold nail soak

If you enjoy the full manicure experience, especially the time your nails spend luxuriating in fragrant soaking liquid, you’ll appreciate learning how you can recreate that experience at home. Buffing and filing can be rough on your cuticles, as can the acetone used in a polish change. This DIY recipe will remedy all of that right in your very own home.
Mixing natural ingredients, like marigold flowers and herbal tea, with a combination of essential oils and warm water makes a soothing soak. Marigold flowers have anti-inflammatory properties. Orange oil brightens and encourages nail growth, and honey moisturizes while contributing antibacterial properties to the blend. The sweet almond oil also soothes and hydrates the skin around your nails, leaving it plump and rejuvenated.
- Bowl
- Dried marigold flowers
- Spoon
- Orange herbal tea (Rosali, No. 19 Blood Orange Teatox)
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 3-4 eyedroppers sweet almond oil (Natures Leaf)
- 3 drops sweet orange oil (Aura Cacia)
- 3 drops citrus essential oil blend (Healing Solutions, Citrus Bliss)
- Warm water
- Small towel
Fierce League
1. Place the dried marigold flowers into the bowl, and separate the blossoms with the spoon.
2. Add orange herbal tea to the bowl.
3. Add 2 teaspoons of honey to the mixture. If using a honey-filled straw, use approximately one-half of the contents.
4. Squeeze three-and-a-half droppers’ full of sweet almond oil into the bowl.
5. Add three drops of sweet orange oil and three drops of the citrus essential oil blend to the mixture.
6. Fill the bowl with warm water, and stir the ingredients to combine them. Tip: Test the water temperature before filling the bowl completely. You don’t want to burn your hands.
7. Submerge your nails in the liquid, and allow them to soak for 3-5 minutes.
8. Dry your hands with the soft towel.
Stay pretty!
