Get silver-screen ready with Marilyn Monroe’s classic 50s makeup look

Few beauty icons are as well known as Marilyn Monroe. Her style has been replicated for decades for a reason. Her full lashes and true red pout stand out, along with her natural-looking facial contours, wide-awake eyes and high brows. Unlike the product-heavy eye makeup prominent today, Marilyn’s eye makeup was surprisingly simple.
The following makeup tutorial will help you achieve this silver-screen darling's look. Start by priming your skin and applying foundation and concealer. Two different powder foundations instead of setting powder give the face dimension. Using cream-colored shadow on the lid and darkening the crease very slightly keeps the eyes neutral. Add a pair of false lashes and red lipstick to finish the classic look. Don’t forget to add that beauty mark, though. It’s a necessity.

Instructions
1. Gently massage makeup primer into your skin with your fingers.
2. Apply foundation to your face, and work it into your skin in patting motions with a foundation brush.
3. Apply concealer with the applicator wand to cover discoloration and brighten your nose, the center of your forehead and under your eyes. Use a flat-topped brush to buff the product into your skin.
4. Set your concealer with light-colored pressed powder foundation. Use a large flat brush to press the powder into the skin. Apply the powder to your forehead, nose, chin and undereye area. Tip: If you applied foundation to your eyelids, set that area with powder foundation, too.
5. Warm up the tops of your cheekbones with dark powder foundation using the cheek brush.
6. Pat peachy brown blush onto the apples of your cheeks with the cheek brush. Tip: Use the large flat brush to diffuse the pigment; the brush will have some powder in it from earlier.
7. Sculpt and define your brows by brushing brow cream through them with an angled brush. Use a spoolie to groom them and to diffuse the pigment.
8. Sweep matte brown eye shadow into the crease with the fluffy blending brush.
9. Pat matte cream-colored eye shadow onto the lid with a shading brush.
10. Deepen the crease color by applying matte golden brown eye shadow with the blending brush.
11. Apply black liquid eyeliner just above the upper lashes. Extend the liner slightly beyond the outer corner in a wing.
12. Holding the false lashes with tweezers, apply a small amount of lash glue onto the lash band. Let the glue set for 10 seconds, and then apply the lashes just above your upper lash line.
13. Fill in your lips with red lipstick. Use a lip brush for precision.
14. Use dark brown eye pencil to create a beauty mark on your cheek.
