This mermaid makeup look is perfect for parties

Perhaps it's the influence of shows like HBO's "Euphoria." It seems as though there's never been a better time to get experimental with your makeup. When it comes to bright colors, jewel embellishments and dramatic shapes, anything goes. The world of out-there makeup can be intimidating, though, and it can be difficult to know where to start.
This mermaid-inspired look is an ideal jumping-off point. It combines colorful hues with diamantes to give a stunningly eye-catching effect that's deceptively easy. You can also mix up the shades to get a different vibe every time.

Instructions
1. Apply primer across the entire eyelid to ensure eye shadows show up better and stay put. We used the Urban Decay Original Primer Potion.
2. Apply a warm brown eye shadow on a fluffy brush to the eye crease. We used So Fetch! from the Morphe 350 Nature Glow Artistry Palette.
3. Use a deeper shade of brown to add dimension in the outer corner. We used Wannabe from the same Morphe palette.
4. Pack a shimmery champagne shade onto the lid with a flat brush. We used Timers from the same palette.
5. Apply a liquid glitter shade to the center of the lid. We used Stila's Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye shadow (Kitten Karma). Blend with a finger.
6. Fill in brows using a pomade and an angled brush.
7. Prime skin, and apply a high-coverage foundation using a kabuki brush.
8. Use an under-eye concealer to brighten and conceal. Blend with a smaller kabuki brush.
9. Define the cheekbones, jawline, and hairline with a cream contour stick. Blend using the same foundation brush.
10. Set your concealer using a pressed powder foundation to amp up the coverage.
11. Set your cream contour using a powder bronzer on a fluffy cheek brush.
12. Apply a warm, shimmery, peach-toned blush to the apples of the cheeks. We used MAC's Warm Soul.
13. Highlight the bridge and tip of the nose, browbone, Cupid's bow, and tops of the cheekbones with a shimmery pale gold powder highlighter. We used Anastasia Beverly Hills' Summer.
14. Apply a bright cobalt kohl pencil to the waterline. We used the NYX Slide On Pencil in Azure.
15. Use a lighter, more turquoise kohl pencil to blend the waterline down onto the lower lashline. We used the NYX Electro Liner in Coastal.
16. Apply blue glitter gel over the lower lashline. We used the NYX Liquid Crystal Liner in Crystal Aqua.
17. Work a bright pink matte eyeshadow into the outer corner of the eyelid with a pencil brush. We used NYX Primal Colors in Hot Fuchsia.
18. Use a matte dark purple shade to deepen the color. We used the one from the NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette.
19. Apply black mascara to the top and bottom lashes.
20. Fill in lips with a neutral pink pencil. We used the NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien.
21. Use lash glue to apply diamante rhinestones in a line across the forehead above the brows. Start with the biggest size in the center, and use smaller stones as you go further out. Tip: Tweezers help you to be precise.
