How to liven up your neutral makeup routine with shimmery shadow

In a world of work-appropriate makeup, it can be difficult to break free of the matte trend. Going full-on disco glam has a time and place, but if you want to pull off a shimmery daytime look, then it has to be well-executed. This stunning eye makeup style transitions easily from a day at work to a night on the town.
Neutral shades are the perfect foil for bright, shimmery shadows. Start by building a warm base with a series of brown matte shades, then build up the shimmer with rose gold and peach shadow. To balance the glittery eyes, the rest of your makeup should be subtle, so opt for bronzed cheeks and pink- brown lips.

Instructions
1. Prepare your skin and minimize dry areas by applying hydrating lotion to your face.
2. Fill in and darken your brows with brow pencil, then brush the hairs into place and diffuse the pigment with a spoolie.
3. Apply eye shadow primer to the entire eye area to cover discoloration and help your eye shadow last longer. Pat the primer in with your fingers to ensure it is smooth and dry before continuing.
4. Pat pale yellow eye shadow below the brow bone and onto the eyelid with an eye shadow brush.
5. Give the outer corner and eyelid crease dimension by sweeping saddle brown eye shadow onto each area with a fluffy blending brush.
6. Darken the crease and outer corner by applying deep terracotta eye shadow with the fluffy blending brush.
7. Line the upper lash line with the black eyeliner pencil, then smudge the line with a flat liner brush. This will diffuse the liner and give the eye a smoky look.
8. Apply deep chocolate brown eye shadow to the outer corner with an eye shadow brush.
9. Pat rose gold metallic eye shadow onto the inner corner and middle of the lid with an eye shadow brush. Tip: Patting will prevent fallout, so don’t sweep the brush back and forth.
10. Amplify the inner corner and middle of the lid by applying glittery peach liquid eye shadow with the provided applicator. Pat it on gently, then use the flat eye shadow brush to press it firmly into place.
11. Curl your lashes with the eyelash curler.
12. Apply lash glue to the lash band of the false lashes, then wait 10 seconds for the glue to become tacky. Position the lashes just above your upper lashes by using a pair of tweezers.
13. Disguise any excess glue on the upper lash line by applying black liquid liner.
14. Use a flat liner brush to apply deep chocolate brown eye shadow below the lower lashes.
15. Apply pearly gold metallic eye shadow to the inner corner of the eye with a small eye shadow brush.
16. Use a fluffy foundation brush to apply liquid foundation to your face.
17. Contour your cheeks, forehead, temples, nose and lip perimeter by applying cream contour stick to each area. Blend the contour cream into your skin with a fluffy cheek brush.
18. Lighten the under-eye area by applying liquid concealer below your eyes with the provided wand. Press the concealer into your skin with a damp beauty sponge.
19. Tap some loose setting powder into the jar lid, then dip a fluffy brush into the powder. Pat and press the powder onto the skin where you applied concealer to set it. Tip: If your skin is oily, apply setting powder to your T-zone to control the oil throughout the day.
20. Warm up your complexion by swirling bronzing powder on the cheekbones with a fluffy cheek brush.
21. Apply rose blush to the apples of your cheeks with a fluffy cheek brush.
22. Dust warm gold highlighter onto the top of your cheekbones and around your temples with a fan brush.
23. Apply black mascara to both the upper and lower lashes. Add a second coat, if desired, for added definition.
24. Line your lips with brown lip liner.
25. Fill in your lips with peach liquid lipstick, then use a small lip brush to perfect the application.
26. Top your lips with a coat of pink-brown lip gloss. Tip: Gloss makes your lips look fuller than matte lipstick does.
27. Spritz your face with setting spray to hydrate your skin and eliminate any powdery residue. Tip: Keep the bottle at least 6 inches away from your skin to prevent the mist from leaving wet droplets on your face.
