How to create a romantic look for a special occasion

When a special occasion arises, it's time to pull out all the stops. You want to look healthy, polished and effortless, but how do you achieve that special look without appearing overdone? The key is to build a cohesive color palette. Your eyes, cheeks and lips should create one comprehensive look, and this tutorial keeps all the colors in line.
Blush and lipstick work together and create balance, so warm-toned pink and rose colors take center stage in this look. The eyes are defined with a combination of warm beige, gold and bronze eye shadow, which makes them look bright and ethereal. To give the eyes further dimension, don't forget to fill in your brows. The model has eyelash extensions, but you can fake those by applying a few coats of mascara.

1. Give your cheeks a youthful hint of color by applying warm-toned medium pink blush to the cheeks with a fluffy cheek brush. Sweep the color from the middle of the apple toward the hairline in a diagonal line, and blend away any harsh edges.
2. Apply warm-toned matte beige eye shadow to the eyelid with an eye shadow brush. This color functions as a base and blurs any discoloration on the eyelid.
3. Sweep gold shimmer eye shadow under the brow bone and on the inner corner of the eyelid with the eye shadow brush to brighten and open the eye.
4. Apply bronze shimmer eye shadow on the outer third of the eyelid with the eye shadow brush, then sweep the same color below the lower lash line.
5. Fill in the brows with an eyebrow pencil. Be sure the arch is clearly defined as this will make you look more awake. Diffuse the color with a disposable mascara wand.
6. Unless you have eyelash extensions like the model, apply two coats of mascara to your lashes.
7. Apply rose-colored lipstick to the lips with a fluffy lip brush. The brush will evenly distribute the color, so it won't settle into your lip lines.
