Go for matte eyeshadow colors for a subtle, sculpted effect

Of all the different makeup products in the world, one of the most intimidating is eyeshadow. Many view it as too complicated to master and best left to the professionals. But that doesn't have to be the case. With the right shades and technique, applying eyeshadow can be super easy and effective.

When it comes to eyeshadow, people often think of shimmer. And while shimmery shades can be eye-catching and fun, they can also cause problems. This type shadow can easily accentuate skin texture or wrinkles and can look a little over the top for day-to-day life. The solution? A fully matte eyeshadow look.

Materials
Eyeshadow primer
Fluffy eyeshadow brush
Matte cream eyeshadow
Warm taupe eyeshadow
Flat eyeshadow brush
Warm mustard-brown eyeshadow
Small pencil brush
Chocolate-brown eyeshadow
Black mascara

1. Cover the entire eyelid in a thin layer of eyeshadow primer to help your shadows last much longer.

2. Using a fluffy brush, apply the cream shadow over your entire lid.

3. Using the same fluffy brush, take your warm taupe shadow and work it into the eyelid's crease. Light circular motions can help with blending.

4. Take your flat eyeshadow brush and apply the warm mustard-brown shadow directly into the crease. This will add depth and definition.

5. With the small pencil brush, apply the dark chocolate-brown across your lashline. This will make the lashes appear fuller.

6. Use your flat eyeshadow brush to apply the warm taupe shade to your lower lashline to make your eyes appear bigger.

7. Apply black mascara to your eyelashes.

8. With the fluffy brush and do one final blend over the entire eyeshadow area. This will blur any harsh lines and give a more natural, subtle effect.
