Have you ever wished you had longer hair even just for a day? Hair extensions are more affordable than ever, and they can change your look in a flash. Clip-in extensions come in lots of natural colors, so finding the right shade isn’t that difficult. And since they come in bright colors, too, why not combine the two for a playful look that won’t harm your hair?
This tutorial will teach you how to insert the extensions without leaving the clips exposed. The trick is to braid your natural hair first, so the extensions can be layered over it. This approach alternates matching colors with bright ones around the face and in the back as well. If you have fine hair, use a comb to gently tease the hair near the scalp. This will help the extensions stay in place better.

Instructions
1. Use a rattail comb to section the hair in front of the ears on both sides of the face. Clip these sections up with hair clamps.
1. Use a rattail comb to section the hair in front of the ears on both sides of the face. Clip these sections up with hair clamps.
2. Section the hair on the crown of your head as well, and clamp it on top. This section will eventually hide the clip-in extensions.
3. Depending on how much hair you have, create one or more Dutch braids with the loose hair. Secure the braid or braids with hair elastics. Then, wrap them against your head and pin them in place with bobby pins.
4. Clip a small, matching color hair extension at the nape of your neck just above the braid. Repeat this step by clipping another hair extension just above the first one.
5. Clip a small blue extension on the right side above the others, then clip a purple extension on the left.
6. Clip two large, matching color extensions above the colored extensions. Since you’ll be attaching two extensions side by side, clip the first one as close to one ear as possible, then clip the second one next to it.
7. Clip three colored extensions above the previous set. Place one on each side and another one in the middle.
8. Remove the upper hair clamp, so the hair on the top of your head covers the clips.
9. To complete the sides that frame the face, section the hair and clip matching color or multicolored extensions in between layers of your hair. Tip: If the clips don't fasten tightly, tease the hair slightly. It will help the clips stay in better.
10. Repeat step 9 on the other side.
11. Use the razor to trim the extensions, so they look more natural and blend with your hair.
12. Use the flat iron to smooth your hair if the texture doesn’t match the texture of the extensions.
