How to create a loose braided updo

There are lots of ways to keep your hair off your face. Clips and headbands look nice, but braiding the front and pinning it in back will give your hairstyle a romantic look. This style includes two Dutch braids in the front, but a standard three-strand braid works just fine, too.
The great thing about this loose updo is that it requires only a few hair elastics, bobby pins and a decorative hairpin. To soften the look of the braided sections, simply tug each braid apart slightly. It will give the hair more fullness and dimension.

Instructions
1. Use your fingers to lift the hair at the crown of your head, then secure the hair in place with a clear elastic.
2. Hold onto the elastic with one hand and gently pull some of the hair upward with the other. This will give the crown section more volume.
3. Braid the hair in the elastic to the end and secure the braid with another clear elastic.
4. Create a three-strand Dutch or standard braid using the hair on the left side of the face. Secure it with an elastic at the bottom, then repeat this step by braiding the other side.
5. Crisscross the braids over the elastic at the back of your head, then pin the sections in place with bobby pins. Once the sections are secure, you can remove the hair elastics and tuck the loose hair underneath. This will keep the look smooth.
6. If desired, create another three-strand braid on the left side just behind the ear. Repeat on the right side if you want both sides to match. Fluff the braid up by tugging on each part of the braid slightly.
7. Complete the hairstyle by inserting a decorative leaf-shaped hair clip on top of the braided section in the back.
