Learn how to do a fancy topknot

Drawing attention to your face is as simple as pulling your hair back. While a ponytail may be too casual for work, a tight topknot is sleek, polished and professional. This ballerina-inspired style is fun and fancy because it's more than just a basic bun.
This topknot can be done two different ways, and the video shows how both of them are achieved. Begin with a high ponytail, then knot the hair in opposing directions to create a balanced look. If you want to weave a piece of ribbon into the hairstyle, you can do that as well. Either way, begin by teasing the hair at the roots to keep it from lying completely flat against your head.

Instructions
1. Spray your hair at the roots with texturizing spray. Tip: Work section by section to make sure all of the roots are treated.
2. Working in small sections, brush the hair in a backward motion (i.e., working downward toward the scalp) with the teasing brush. Repeat until all the hair near the scalp has been teased.
3. Spritz the hair with texturizing spray once more.
4. Brush the hair into a high ponytail, then secure it with a clear elastic.
5. Divide the hair into two sections, then knot it once in the front and once more in the back. If your hair is long, knot it again, then tuck the loose ends underneath and pin them in place with a bobby pin. Consider this option: For a casual style, insert the decorative ribbon into the hair looping tool and pull it through the initial ponytail before creating the knots.
6. Smooth any loose hair down with the brush handle, add decorative pins to the style as desired and spray with hair spray.
