How to do a DIY dry scalp treatment

Tight, dry, itchy scalp making you crazy? Before you invest in a pricey store-bought treatment, try creating a customized scalp treatment at home. Usually, your scalp protects itself by producing oil, but occasionally weather conditions, hair care products and even hard water can make a scalp tight and dry.
If you've never used essential oils in your hair, you're in for a real treat –literally. This treatment video features three different oils (plus grapeseed oil as a carrier, which buffers the essential oils and prevents them from causing irritation). Tea tree oil helps unclog hair follicles, improving natural oil production. Lavender oil smells great and moisturizes, whereas rosemary improves circulation in the scalp, which can prevent fallout. This triple oil combo nourishes and treats your scalp simultaneously.

Because you'll need to let the oil mixture work for 10 to 20 minutes, plan to relax with a cup of tea and enjoy a little "me" time. By making this treatment a part of your weekly routine, your scalp will be healthier and less itchy.
