How to use your personal facial steamer

Having healthy skin doesn't have to mean a lot of work. You probably already have a full skin care routine that includes moisturizing, but using a facial steamer can be really beneficial. Personal steamers are relatively inexpensive. Most cost less than $30, so if you're on the fence about making a purchase, this video may help you make up your mind.
Steamers can be used to relieve congested sinuses, but one of their greatest strengths lies in their skin-care benefits. The warm steam helps open pores, which makes skin more receptive to moisture. This tutorial shows how to create a customized aromatherapy liquid that is great for your skin and your mood.

Materials
- Personal steam unit
- Distilled water
- 6-8 drops of lavender essential oil
- Clean towel
- Moisturizer or hydrating mask (optional)
Directions
1. Put the steamer on a flat surface, such as a counter.
2. Remove the water chamber and fill it with room-temperature distilled water.
3. Add six to eight drops of lavender essential oil. Cap the bottle tightly and shake it to combine the water and oil.
4. Insert the water chamber into the steamer, plug it in and turn it on. It may take about 30 to 40 seconds before the mist is visible.
5. Position your face about 7 to 8 inches away from the steam. Don't get too close because the mist will be very hot.
6. Steam for five to 10 minutes. Turn the unit off and pat your skin dry with a clean towel.
7. Top off your freshly hydrated face with a moisturizing mask or your favorite cream.
