How to apply liquid makeup set before applying powders

Most of us use multiple products to complete our look, but one thing we can all agree on is that cakey makeup is not what we're going for. One of the reasons makeup ends up looking thick and cakey is because we apply products with different consistencies without waiting for everything to set. Mixing liquid or cream foundation with a powdered highlighting product is a recipe for, well, disaster.
If you use a liquid or cream base product, you need to allow it to fully dry before using any type of powder -- be it blush, highlighter, or contour. A good rule of thumb is to wait at least 2-3 minutes after applying your foundation before proceeding. You can test this with your finger or a tissue. If it's still tacky, wait a little longer. Once you're sure the base is set, add blush or highlighter to finish your look.

Materials
- Liquid foundation
- Beauty sponge
- Tissue
- Highlight powder
- Fan brush
Directions
1. Apply your foundation with a damp beauty sponge.
2. Wait 2-3 minutes for the makeup to set before applying any powder products.
3. Test to see if the foundation has dried by lightly touching your skin with either your finger or a tissue square.
4. Once your makeup is fully set, apply highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones. This keeps the two formulas from combining on your skin and ensures that your highlight looks fresh.
That's all there is to it. Patience really is a virtue. Stay pretty!
