6 beauty tips to follow before having your picture taken

So there's a big day on the horizon, and you obviously want to look your best. You've got your hair, your clothes and your jewelry all worked out … but what about your makeup?
Prepping for photographs generally involves a few different products and some specialized techniques, but don't panic. You probably have everything you need in your arsenal already.

1. Exfoliate beforehand
Photographs capture everything, especially flakes. Before you apply your makeup, make sure to wash your face with a gentle cleanser and use a light exfoliating product. Go easy, though! Aggressive scrubbing can leave you red all over.

2. Prep and prime
Moisturized skin looks radiant and natural, so be sure to apply a good moisturizer and follow up with a priming product to keep your foundation from oxidizing.
3. Grab those color correctors
If you have dark circles, blemishes, old acne scars, or redness, your color correctors can cancel out those issues without leaving your face looking cakey. Try useing both green and orange to cancel out redness and dark circles.
4. Press your foundation in
Whether you apply your initial layer with a brush or your fingers, follow up with a damp beauty sponge to press the foundation into your skin. This also eliminates any brush marks.
5. Set with colored powder
HD powder is notorious for flashing back and causing you to look ghostly in photographs. To avoid this, opt for a colored finishing powder that matches your skin tone. Tip: If you press it into the skin with your beautyblender instead of dusting it all over your face, you'll eliminate the problem entirely.
6. Set with long lasting setting spray
Unless you're being photographed immediately, you'll want to use setting spray to keep everything in place for hours. Some products are virtually budge-proof, so pick one that matches your skin's needs and your photography timeline.
