How to cover up dark circles and under-eye bags in 5 easy steps

One of the most common problems people face can be attributed to lack of sleep, allergies or genetics: dark circles and those pesky under-eye bags.
Short of undergoing a cosmetic procedure, the only way to deal with these concerns requires makeup. But it doesn't have to be difficult. Here are five simple steps (including one you probably don't know about) that will help you conceal dark circles and minimize bags.

1. Use eye cream
Lack of hydration can make your under-eye area look dry and crepey, so apply a good eye cream and let it dry before continuing with the rest of your makeup.

2. Apply peachy corrector
Concealer will do a much better job (and you won't have to use as much of it) if you apply a peach or orange correcting product on the dark areas first. Simply pat it in – don't rub.
3. Minimize the shadow of the bag
Look into a mirror and tip your head slightly downward. You should see the shadow at the bottom of your eye bag. Apply a very thin line of brightening concealer in that spot. Don't blend it, though. Concealer will do the heavy lifting next.

4. Apply concealer in a triangle shape
To avoid looking like a raccoon in reverse, apply concealer in a triangle instead of a half moon below your eye. Press it in with a damp beauty sponge to avoid moving the corrector that's underneath.

5. Set and go
You've done a lot of work, so don't let it slip away during the day. Lightly set the area with a colorless setting powder or spray. (Press the powder or setting spray into the skin with a damp beauty sponge. It will help the two products fuse together.)
