Rather than just putting concealer over a pimple, try this woman's genius idea

It never seems to fail. You've got a big date, an important job interview, or a large family gathering...and a shiny new pimple wants to come along for the ride. Ugh! Covering active blemishes can be tricky, but with a few simple steps, you'll be able to mask them with ease.
One of the primary tips for making up with acne is to avoid aggravating the area you want to conceal. You may be tempted to squeeze that pimple, but it will only make it more difficult to cover (and can lead to infection) if you do. Try these tips instead.

1. Apply a cold or warm compress first
If you're dealing with a swollen cystic blemish without a head, try applying either a warm or cold compress on it to reduce the inflammation. Every pimple is different, so experiment with both options to see which one does the trick. P.S. Applying ice directly works, too!
2. Cover redness with green color corrector
These crayon colored miracle workers can do what foundation can't. Applying green corrector over any red spots will cancel out part, if not all, of the redness. Just remember that you still need to apply foundation or concealer over them to cover up the residual green.
3. Layer thinner foundation and concealer
You may be tempted to grab a full-coverage foundation product to cover your acne, but the end result can look heavy and cakey. Applying a thinner foundation, tinted moisturizer, or BB cream with a light layer of liquid concealer over it will do a much better job of masking that pimple.
4. Get creative with a temporary beauty mark
If you've done all you can do, and the bump is still visible, consider turning that pimple into a beauty mark. After applying foundation and concealer, set the area with powder then make a dot with your eyebrow pencil.
5. Use non-aggravating tools
When your skin is irritated, it's best to go easy, especially if you usually buff your makeup in with a brush. To avoid upsetting your skin further, use a damp beauty sponge and pat, don't rub, to get the best coverage. P.S. Make sure it's clean, too.

6. Invest in a concealer brush
Concealing acne takes a bit more precision than your fingers can offer, so pick up a good concealer brush and keep it handy. You'll be able to apply less product more precisely.
