Are you applying your makeup in the right order? Read this list and find out

Is there really a correct order for applying makeup? Some say no, but most experts agree on the basics. Maybe you've been doing your makeup for years, or perhaps you're just learning. Either way, some products have to go on in a specific order if they're going to give you good results.
Primers always go on before foundation or eye shadow, but you may prefer to do your cheeks before applying your lipstick. Take a look at the following list and see if following this order will streamline your mornings.

1. Prime your face
Whether you use makeup primer or just moisturizer, it's important to create a smooth canvas for makeup. Tip: You'll use less foundation if your skin is well hydrated.

2. Foundation first, then concealer
Here's where a lot of us get confused. While you may think concealer should go under your foundation, it actually works better when applied on top. You'll use less, too, because your foundation will do some of the work.

3. Brows
Since your brows frame your eyes, it's best to do them before you apply eye shadow. Fill in any missing hairs with brow pencil, then follow up with brow powder, gel, or pomade to give them texture.
4. Eye shadow order really does matter
Eye makeup is the most comprehensive step in any makeup routine, but the basic order includes priming the eyelid and applying your base color. From there, you should do your crease, inner and then outer corners, apply eyeliner and then mascara. Note: Always curl your eye lashes before applying mascara. Do it the other way around and you'll risk damaging your lashes.
Eye shadow product order:
1. Primer
2. Eyeshadow
3. Liner
4. Curl lashes
5. Mascara
5. Follow old-school coloring tips for lips
If you're a multi-step lippie lover, then line your lips first, fill with your color of choice, and top with a layer of gloss.

6. Cheeks
No makeup look would be complete without a pop of color on the cheeks (go for one that matches or complements your lip color). Contouring and highlighting follow, then all you need is a setting spray and you're good to go.
