If you have oily skin, don't despair — just follow these 7 makeup tips

Keeping your makeup in place can be a challenge, especially if you live in a humid climate or have oily skin. If you feel like you're losing the battle, take heart. There are lots of things you can do to ensure your makeup stays flawless despite Mother Nature and genetics.
Most of the steps in this routine will already be familiar to you, but there are a few that you've probably never considered. When used together, you'll spend less time blotting away oil and shine and more time enjoying your day.

1. Apply mattifying or oil absorbing primer
Oil tends to break through foundation, which makes it slide around and look patchy. Using a mattifying primer as a base (on your eyelids, too) will keep oil in check throughout the day.
2. Choose the right foundation
An oil-free foundation is a must if you're looking to even out your skin tone and cover imperfections. While a lightweight foundation may work, you'll get better results with a full coverage foundation. Just remember to focus on spot coverage and blend fully.
3. Conceal with a liquid product
Cream based concealer contains oil, which can make your skin look shiny. Choose a liquid concealer and apply sparingly.
4. Layer your brow products
You probably don't think about it, but the skin beneath your brows can also be oily. If you use a powder product to color your brows, you'll battle oiliness simultaneously. But, if you prefer to use a pencil, just set with a brow powder to ensure that any wax in the pencil is locked in place.
5. Go easy on the highlighter
Highlighter looks great when used sparingly, but it can make oily skin look shiny instead of illuminated. Powder highlighter works best and leaves a pearly cast without a greasy looking finish.

6. Use the right setting spray
Setting sprays add moisture back to the skin in order to eliminate any powdery residue, but oily-skinned gals need to be careful here as well. Choose a mattifying spray that will set your makeup without leaving a dewy gloss behind.

7. Be ready to blot
Despite your best efforts, you may still get oily throughout the day. Blotting papers are everything, so carry some in your purse at all times. Tip: As weird as it sounds, toilet seat covers also work because they absorb oil and don't leave cotton fibers behind.
