Check out these full coverage hacks for foundation

Most of us can't roll out of bed and head off to work without putting on some foundation. Maybe you're trying to cover healed blemishes, or perhaps you just want an all-over clean slate. Either way, full coverage base makeup can occasionally look, and feel, heavy.
If you're tired of spending a fortune on foundation because you use multiple layers, or if your product just isn't cutting it, these tips will help you get fuller coverage without a cakey result.

1. Start with a tinted moisturizer as a base
One of the biggest mistakes we've all made is applying a thick layer of full-coverage makeup over our entire face. Chances are good that you only need heavier coverage in a few areas, so apply a tinted moisturizer to your entire face, and then spot cover with your foundation to get a flawless effect.

2. Rethink your formula
Perhaps you've worn powder or mineral foundation your entire life. While it does provide good coverage, it can also look dry, which makes you look older than you are. Before buying the same old same old again, visit the department store makeup counters and check out the new cream or liquid foundations. You may find that the new product covers all your needs and actually makes your skin look younger.

3. Combine your foundation and primer before applying
This one's a little unorthodox, but you can thin out your foundation and still achieve excellent coverage and staying power by combining a few drops of primer with your foundation. It may take a bit longer to set, but the end result will be smooth and subtle.
4. Apply with pressure, and set with powder and rose water
One of the biggest mistakes we make is not taking enough time to blend our foundation into our skin. Believe it or not, the more you pat and press with your Beautyblender or makeup sponge, the better the overall finish will be. But don't keep adding foundation as you go. Simply apply, pat, press, and then lightly powder your face to set it. You can spritz with rose water at the end to achieve a dewy glow.

5. Use multiple shades for a custom look
If you tend to tan a bit during the summer, you probably have more than one shade of foundation in your arsenal. When the weather turns cooler, try using your lighter color foundation or BB cream in the center of your face with a light layer of darker foundation all around the perimeter. You'll fight off that ghostly pallor and get a customized look.
